At Wells Mining Community, we are committed to transforming the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector in Uganda by promoting responsible, safe, and productive mining practices. Our Mining and Processing program is designed to equip local miners with the knowledge, tools, and technologies necessary to carry out their work efficiently while minimizing environmental and health risks.
We provide hands-on training in sustainable extraction methods that reduce the use of hazardous substances, such as mercury, and introduce alternative eco-friendly techniques. To enhance output and safety, we facilitate access to modern mining equipment and protective gear, ensuring that miners work under improved conditions with reduced exposure to harm.
Our processing support includes the introduction of improved ore beneficiation methods that increase mineral recovery rates and reduce waste. By optimizing how minerals are extracted and processed, we help miners generate more value from their efforts while safeguarding natural resources for future generations.
Ultimately, our goal is to professionalize artisanal mining, raise income levels, and promote environmental stewardship, enabling miners to operate as responsible contributors to Uganda’s economy.
